Thanks to all who have been taking part in annual Washington Consumer’s Checkbook surveys. Each and every year that Washington Consumer's Checkbook Magazine does their article on boarding kennels, we are consistently ranked at the top! Customers who rate us in these surveys state that our overall quality is 'superior', and we join an extremely small group of DC metro area kennels with that distinction. Some of the categories in this survey that we excel at include "affection towards dogs", "dogs being returned in good condition" and "spaciousness".
It should come as no surprise that we scored extremely high (96% said superior) in the category “Spaciousness”. For anyone who hasn’t been here yet, we are located on a beautiful, 45 acre, country setting. We have seven, very large, fully fenced play paddocks where all dogs are taken out 6-7 times a day at no additional charge. When they're not outside playing, accommodations inside consist of either a 12x12’ bedroom suite, an 8’x8’ bedroom suite or an individual 4’x8’ “run”, all with cozy, comfy bedding.
We ranked in the very top in 'Returning Dog in Good Condition' (95% said Superior) and 'Affection Toward Dog' (93% said Superior) categories as well. As far as “Cleanliness”, 86% gave us a Superior rating, which is very good ... but there's a good reason why it wasn't even better. Most kennels that ranked higher are actually veterinarian’s offices. And while we disinfect the entire facility 2x/day, our dogs are outside playing/running/chasing 6-7x/day and sometimes when they come back in … they bring a little “country dirt” with them! The dogs prefer it this way and we don’t mind the extra cleaning required as long as we know they're having fun being dogs and get to exert energy in a big, open, grassy field rather than in a small, pebbled pen.
