Welcome!
This is our very first newsletter, and we're thrilled to have a new way to stay
in touch with all of our friends. E-mail newsletters are meant to be informative and enjoyable, and we hope this will be worth a
few minutes of your time. If you're not able to experience all the nice pictures and digital content we've included, you might need to
adjust your e-mail settings, or just click on the handy link provided that takes you to an online version.
In addition to the newsletter, we just launched a new website, adding to our
newfangled tech related abilities. Same address, just new and improved. So please stop by CountryClubKennels.com to check us out (with new pictures and bios of adorable dogs in
need of a home, hint hint!).
Our digital transformation follows last year's completion of our new building at
the Fauquier County facility, with 24 runs and six additional bedroom suites. We also added quite a bit of landscaping to make it more of a
park-like setting, and have a new security gate at the end of the driveway. All of this means we're able to serve you better ... online, and at our upgraded boarding
facilities. |

The dog version of 'adult swim'. Nothing like a little dip in the pond to
cool off during the dog days of summer!
All dogs are taken out a minimum of six times a day, and social, friendly
dogs are turned out in supervised playgroups for their outings. It may not look like it, but I'm sure there's a supervisor nearby to make sure
these swimmers head for shore in a timely manner. |
A little background: Carla Nammack-Wenger has been training
dogs of all stripes since 1991, acquiring a reputation for being able to help dogs deemed "beyond control". She's spent years
studying dogs and dog behavior, and is well known for her gentle yet effective training technique. She started Country Club Kennels and
Training in 1996, aiming to offer an attractive alternative to standard boarding kennels. The Chance Foundation got started
after Carla rescued Chance from the SPCA in 2000, with only minutes to spare before he was to be euthanized.
Carla wanted to make special note of her "wonderful staff as she couldn't run her
business and rescue so many dogs without their help and dedication": Manager Stephanie Toth, Yukari Nakamura, Nick Mathews, Crystal Williams,
Penny Thompson and Jocelyn Helgran. We would be remiss if we didn't mention our beloved office dogs, Angel and Travis, who greet
clients and monitor the snack can to make sure it's being properly utilized.
We thought you might benefit from some training tips in the newsletter. One
common complaint heard from clients is that their dog lunges/pulls toward other dogs during walks, so here's a tip you
can download or print called: How to Properly Introduce a Dog to Another Dog to Help Ensure that the Meeting
Goes Well.
In addition, Carla has a number of training videos for viewing at Monkeysee.com.
Some of the more popular videos are Housebreaking a Puppy and Dog Training and Leadership Skills. Training Videos

Carla and Chance, inspiration for the Chance Foundation
To read the touching story of Chance, how he was given a second chance in life, go
here. |
We're passionate about what we do, whether working with client's dogs or homeless dogs
in our care. The Chance Foundation, an all-breed, non-profit dog rescue organization Carla founded,
specializes in taking in abandoned, abused and neglected dogs and providing them with medical care, socialization and
training in an effort to find them permanent, loving homes.
We take in as many dogs as we can afford to at any given time. If you or someone
you know is interested in a loving companion, please consider the dogs we have available here. If you're interested in volunteer opportunities or would like to help
in any way you can, please contact us. The Chance Foundation is a non-profit 501(3)(c) Foundation. All donations are tax deductible, and
we've set up a Donate Button on the website to enable credit or debit card donations. We cannot express how much we
appreciate your support of our efforts to help these wonderful dogs.

Pet of the Month Andrew
Isn't he handsome??? |
Andrew is featured as Pet of the Month on our website. We'll let
him tell it in his own words:
"Hi, my name is Andrew. I'm told I'm quite handsome and that I may be
part Great Dane and part something else ... possibly Hound (everyone says I look like a miniature Great Dane). My previous owner
dumped me at a rural shelter stating "he don't hunt." Lucky for me I was rescued by the Chance Foundation as I'd much rather be part
of a loving family than living in a pen outside in the freezing cold.
I was severely emaciated when I was rescued, but Carla and her staff are making up for
it. I've put on weight, my coat is glossy, and I'm learning what it's like to be loved. I'm good with calm dogs and people. Please
consider opening your heart and home to me. I won't let you down! Thanks!!"

Bucky the Gatekeeper |
Farewell to a very special girl:
As many of you know, I'm the very proud "caretaker" of quite a crew of my own
four-footed friends. There's a story behind each one of them and how they ended up coming to me (and staying!). Of all my wonderful dogs, many of you are familiar with my "special girl", Bucky, who came to me 12
years ago when I first started CCK&T.
I'm so glad that I've
learned to love my dogs with all my heart and soul because, as we all know, they don't stay with us forever. Bucky, my trusted companion,
went to heaven this past summer. Bucky's story and my special goodbye to her are here.
That wraps up our first
newsletter. I'd love to
hear from you. Feedback and suggestions are always welcome, as are pictures and video links of you and your family
(especially furry members). Share them with us and we'll share some in future newsletters, especially successful
adoption stories.
Take care and we hope to see you
and hear from you soon!
Carla
