Rated “Superior” for Quality in Washington Consumer’s Checkbook again!
Thanks to our customers who took part in the Winter/Spring ’09 edition of Washington Consumer’s Checkbook survey, once again, we received the magazine’s top rating for “superior quality” of the 73 kennels included in this survey.
We were one of only three kennels that scored 100% in the category “Returning Dog To Owner In Good Condition”. The other two kennels that scored 100% charge $50/day while we charge $35/day.
When asked whether kennel staff was “Affectionate Towards the Dog”, we scored 97% which put us again, in the top three.
I’m sure it comes as no surprise that we were the only kennel that scored 100% for “Spaciousness”. For anyone who hasn’t been here yet, we are located on a beautiful, 45 acre, country setting. We have seven, very large, fully fenced play paddocks where all our dogs are taken out between 6-7 times a day at no additional charge. When the dogs are not outside playing, their accommodations inside consist of either a 12x12’ bedroom suite, an 8’x8’ bedroom suite or an individual 4’x8’ “run” all w/ cozy, comfy bedding.
We ranked #2 out of the 73 kennels in regards to “Overall Quality”. My employees and I will do whatever we can to ensure that we are #1 next year!
As far as “Cleanliness” we ranked in the top 17% of the 73 kennels rated. Most of the kennels that ranked higher were actually veterinarian’s offices. We like to be the best we can be and enjoy the high ratings, however, there is a good reason why we weren’t ranked #1. While we do disinfect the entire facility 2x/day we can understand why we weren’t the “cleanest”. It is because our dogs are outside playing/running/chasing 6-7x/day and sometimes when they come back in…..they bring a little “country dirt” with them! The dogs prefer it this way and we don’t mind the extra cleaning required as long as we know they are having fun being dogs and get to exert their energy in a big, open, grassy field rather than in a small, pebbled pen.
The final category regarding “Convenient Drop Off and Pick Up Hours”, we ranked within the top 40%. While I would love to get a higher rating, the fact that we are very different from standard boarding kennels necessitates a stricter schedule for customer hours. Our visiting dogs are our number one priority. In order to take them out 6-7x/day and supervise the playgroups to ensure everyone is enjoying themselves, it’s impossible for us to be in the office at all times throughout the day. In addition to the outings, we are often times out on the property doing nature walks and/or pond trips for dogs who enjoy a good hike or swim. Please note that we are flexible with our drop off and pick up arrangements if prior arrangements are made.
